Scope of Works
The Joint Venture Hydromar – Jan de Nul was awarded on 7 April 2004 the Port of Tripoli Extension Works Phase 2 - Lot 1.
In order to expedite the construction of the 2300 m of breakwaters foreseen for the project, the JV hired North and South to provide the following services:
- Construction of the Breakwater Core and Filter Layer by transporting 850,000 tons of rock material (0-500kg) from the loading dock to the coordinates provided by the JV, and dumping the material in place.
- Bathymetrical Surveys
- Towing Services for the JV’s crane barges
North and South carried on its works by using its Self propelled Split Barge “Al Arz 1” with a total hopper capacity of 1500 m3 and which was equipped with a DGPS positioning system.
The works were supported by the tug boat “Sour” and the fully equipped survey vessel “Jbeil”.
The project was completed on time to the satisfaction of the Client.
